Email Marketing’s Role In Internet Marketing

by admin on Aug.31, 2009, under Uncategorized

When you hear the term “internet marketing“, what do you think of?

For many, that term conjures thoughts of websites or spamming or search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. For others, it’s all about graphical design, writing fancy code or even affiliate programs. All of those answers correct, but the essence of internet marketing is much simpler.

At its core, internet marketing is about these things:

* Understanding the target market to which the product/service/cause you’re marketing will appeal
* Determining exactly how your target market interacts with the internet
* Positioning your content on the internet to attract the attention of your target market
* Collecting information about your target market (also known as “leads”) for follow-up and conversion into sales
* Design of offers or incentives to induce the desired actions from your leads

Since there is insufficient space in this article to give all of these topics adequate attention, let’s focus on just one specific topic with the realm of internet marketing: Email Marketing.

My best payoff has always come by focusing on permission-based email marketing. Permission-based email marketing refers to the practice of collecting information (including email addresses) from website visitors and communicating with them via e-mail with their direct consent. The “permission” aspect of permission-based email marketing is what separates legitimate email marketers from the spammers that everyone despises.

My love of email marketing is strong for one reason: It works very well. Email marketing has been much like a never-ending goldmine: It enables us to produce income on demand simply by sending a good offer to our list. When you have thousands of loyal subscribers - as we do - and you put a strong and compatible offer in front of them, income becomes nearly automatic.

However, the key to successful email marketing is the development of a legitimate trust relationship with your subscribers. If you opt to send your subscribers a request for purchases every single day, they will likely tire of your badgering and cease reading your emails altogether.

Alternatively, if you take the time to provide good content to your readers on a regular and frequent basis, you’ll discover that your readers take all of your emails far more seriously, and as a result your emails will be opened, read and acted upon with greater frequency. Essentially, email marketing is really an exercise in trust.

Even though there are more sides to internet marketing than just email marketing (permission based), email has been the foundation that our business sits on.

Free Email Lists -Breakthrough Tips

by admin on Aug.31, 2009, under Uncategorized

Free Email Lists Video

A mailing list in full use with decent auto-responders is a joy to see and literally poetry in motion. If your not sure what an auto-responder is, be sure to check out the link at the bottom of this article.

How would you like to sell a product to a customer and then market more of your products to that same customer in the future automatically without having to do anything (apart from setting up a process one time only?

Interested? Mailing lists are big business, and lots of businesses fail to see just how important capturing a customers email address can be.

Even if you do not have your own product i.e. if you are an affiliate marketer for other peoples products I am going to try to convince you of the importance of a mailing list you can use to market over and over to customers.

Logically, it makes sense to sell to your already existing customers doesn’t it? You have bought this existing customer to your website in the past and hopefully because you gave outstanding service and the product they purchased exceeded their expectations, they will be much more receptive to you for any new products you offer in the future.

Having the customer (or even potential customers) on a mailing list makes sense doesn’t it? It’s a great way to keep in touch and to keep your name in their Inbox (hopefully for good reasons!) and is a great way to convert potential buyers into customers and existing customers in repeat-business customers.

It starts with the mailing list. It’s very important to capture the visitors name and email address when they get to your website, so that you have an opportunity to build a relationship with them in the future.

So how do you go about that? After all many people are reluctant to give out an email address to just anyone, because we all loathe spam, and you have to have built up a rapport before people are at ease giving you their email address. It really is a catch-22?

Well two things will help here, firstly the quality of the information on your website will be a real plus. Relevant quality content will show the visitor that this is not a dodgy website, but rather a real website run by a real person.

Having a privacy policy and real contact information including phone numbers is also very important and helps in showing your customer that you are a real living person.

With all that said, many potential customers would still be reluctant to give you their email address, so you have to give out an incentive, a reason for them to give you their email address.

When considering finding out more about email lists; it pays to do a little research first as a further way to move forward faster!

This is where a useful report, a useful e-Book, or other information can become quite handy. Tell the visitor if they sign up to your mailing list, they get access to the report, or whatever it is that you are offering free of charge. If you haven’t got anything else you can give away, think laterally.

What about offering a coupon to be used to claim a discount when ordering, or some other benefit.

People get the opportunity to discover more about you, your products and services with auto-responders. Often it may take five or more pieces of “content” before someone feels comfortable enough to purchase something from you.

I have purchased a lot (and when I say a lot the emphasis is on the words a lot) of e-Books in my time, and the quality of a fair portion of them was sub-average at best.

In many cases I would not have purchased the e-Book if I had read some of it first, but on the other hand there are some purchases I have not made because I wasn’t sure what to expect quality wise, and being able to read a few chapters might just have swayed me to purchase the book).

One thing to remember with giveaways is make sure it’s a quality product and relevant to your site. If your freebie turns out to be useless to your subscriber and not of value, they are going to unsubscribe faster than you can say “oops I blew it”.

Talking about un-subscribing, it’s also very important for the visitor to know they can un-subscribe anytime without penalty, so make sure you make this clear on the sign up/opt-in page, and then ensure you actually do unsubscribe them if you receive a request to do so.

Auto-responders really are the bee’s knee’s (Aussie slang for perfect).

Automating things is one of the first steps to achieving truly great things, and an auto-responder is a great thing to use to automate your customer or potential customer follow-up.

Read my auto-responder Article for specific techniques on how to follow up customers and some of the rules of the game.

There are lots of companies providing mailing list and auto-responder automation. If you do any research you will find that AWeber is generally acknowledged to be one of the best, and I use them exclusively.

If your in the market for this type of automation, I suggest you take the time check them out.

One great thing they do is offer a full 30 day no-risk and a free trial. Mailing lists can be one of the most effective ways to ramp up traffic to your site by getting prospects or customers coming back over and over again.

Mailing Lists Are Something you should look into in your quest for more web site traffic.

Making an eBay Business Plan

by admin on Aug.31, 2009, under Uncategorized

You have tried selling items on eBay and you realized after a while that you could earn a steady income with this home-based business. You have followed easy techniques and made them work for you, plus you have an understanding of how eBay works.

You don’t need to be a professional when going from “casual seller” to starting your eBay business, as long as you know how to do things properly.  It is now time to take things further by registering it legally. Have basic knowledge about taxes, increasing your inventory and eventually setting up an eBay Store.    An eBay business plan is essential.

Earning a Living through eBay

Setting up an eBay Business

The fundamental element when setting up an eBay business is math. Make sure you do an inventory of your chosen items and sum up how much you are going to make from them. Add the cost of your goods and expenses, including all eBay fees. Be organized financially by updating your files with spreadsheets and Quick Books.

Update this daily to keep up with the numbers. Remember that running hundreds of auctions will entail hard work on your part. Be sure that you are up to the job.

Give one or two days to set up the auction and dedicate another couple for the shipping process.  Make sure you have enough space for your inventory and packaging. Also, you will need to find ways of promoting your service since potential buyers just don’t stumble upon your listings.

You can set up endorsements on your email, make message boards on your personal website, make use of listing enhancements or interact with repeat bidders and/or former buyers.

Choices for your company

1 – Sole proprietorship

This means you are the only one who owns and governs the business. This is the most popular method of setting up a company. You will report income and expenses on your income tax return and are solely the one responsible for lawsuits, if anything goes wrong.

2 – S Corporation

This type of business structure has less than 75 shareholders and an added liability protection.  Whatever profit you gain is shared by all and the losses are shouldered by all as well. Reports of income and expenses will be on each income tax return.  However, it is necessary to form a corporation and fill out the annual corporation tax return, making you spend more.

3 – Limited Liability Company

An excellent choice for eBay sellers is the LLC or Limited Liability Company.  It is a little of both worlds, liability protection like a corporation but tax application as simple as sole proprietorship. It is easier to form and maintain an LLC than set up a corporation.

Consult experts for advice regarding your eBay business, like a Certified Public Accountant and/or a business lawyer.

Keeping up with the paperwork

This is how you will know where your money went and how much income you made. You should make use of spreadsheets or an actual accounting program to keep tabs on your business.

Insurance

It may not be sufficient for you to rely on the insurance policy you have for your home.  Be sure to ask your insurance agent about inventory protection, equipment replacement cost and additional insurance for conducting business out of your home.

Yes, an eBay business plan is essential.   That really is no different than any other serious business.

How to Sell on eBay!

by admin on Aug.31, 2009, under Uncategorized

It is important for your success to learn to sell on eBay.   Yet, it is not that difficult.

How to sell stuff on eBay.
Be detailed and be honest.  Describe everything about the item you are selling in specific detail – color, size, dimensions, manufacturer, defects, etc.  Your customer will appreciate your honesty and you won’t have to worry about returns.

Pictures are very important.
Take several pictures and use the best, clearest one on your auction.  Use a hosting service to upload your pictures.  Usually it is a lower cost than using eBay’s image hosting service.

List your item for sale in two different categories.
This increases your exposure to more bidders.  More bidders likely results in higher bids.

Use eBay automation services.
Set your auction up so an e-mail is automatically sent to the high bidder when these events occur:
·    A buyer wins an item at your auction.
·    The buyer pays you for the item.
·    Right after you ship the product to the buyer.
·    If the buyer leaves good Feedback at eBay.

Use the Buy It Now option.
Buy It Now is a good choice to use if you know the value of the product.   It’s better to sell quickly at a price you’re comfortable with.  If you wait until the auction ends, you never know what the price may be.

Buy It Now is an especially good choice just before gift-giving holidays, like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day.  If they can Buy It Now, they will.  In addition, some buyers just can’t wait until the auction ends.

Minimum bids and Reserves.

You should always have a Minimum Bid.  Be careful:  do not set too high of an opening bid price. Set the Minimum Bid at the lowest price you’ll accept for the product. A high starting price discourages bidding.

A Reserve, on the other hand, can serve to discourage bidding.  Many buyers will avoid bidding on an item if they know there is a Reserve in place for fear their bid will be beneath the Reserve amount.

Should you offer Refunds?
Why not?  Refunds build confidence with your customers.  Offer 100% full refunds.  If an item is returned by a seller, simply re-list it for sale again.

What if it doesn’t sell?
It’s a fact that some items do not sell the first time they are listed on eBay.   So what do you do?   You have several choices:
·    Lower the starting bid.
·    Do not have a reserve price.
·    Take more photos.
·    Re-write the title and description.  Ask someone to review the title and description.  Ask them if it is clear what you are selling.

All of the above suggestions will enable you to sell stuff on eBay.   If you learn to sell on eBay,  your income is almost unlimited.
