Getting Into Online Business

by admin on Jul.20, 2010, under Uncategorized

In these lean economic times, being an employee may not cut it if you are providing for a family and at the same time, are planning to save enough to grant you an early retirement cruising around the world. Problem is, if you quit to find a better paying job, it might take months, even years to find one. That is if you are lucky. One of the best things for you to do then is build your own business. And one of the easiest business to build from the ground up is an online business.

The first thing to do when starting an online business, as with all businesses, is to figure out what you are selling. What will your product be? Will it be service based or an actual physical product? Will it be a soft copy of a book or program, or will it be a physical book? Many things to consider, and the best you can do is finding out what it is you are good at and know well enough to be able to sell it.

So now that you have your own product, one that you know well enough to be considered an expert, what do you do next? Of course you must have a business plan. A plan of attack. But that goes without saying, so the next thing you should go after is building your site. The best start is to buy your own domain name to use for your website. But if you are really on a budget and looking to start as cheap as possible, you can also start using free blogs.

With your blog and/or web site in place, the next step you can do is putting in content. If you don’t know about SEO, or search engine optimization, then consider learning SEO your next step, but if you do, then make sure that each page and article you have in your site is optimized. You can do this by yourself, or you can hire a writer to do this. Whichever way to choose, always make sure that the quality of the content is of the highest quality and that it is written well in a very professional manner. How is this important? Because this is how your clients and customers will be judging you. You would like to give the impression of being a professional who knows what you are talking about, and not some kid with a computer and Internet connection trying to scam them.

Now that you have a product and/or products to sell, and you have a place to sell them, what’s next? You can continually improve your site of course to make it a pleasant experience for your customers. You can add upgrades, applications and programs to better you site. Add clickbank to take care of payments and orders. But perhaps the most important thing to do is to make sure you get the proper SEO treatment. Why? To market and promote your site, and make sure that you are easily found. So learn SEO and make sure you are able to apply it to your online business.

Doing Titles And Descriptions Right

by admin on Mar.23, 2010, under Uncategorized

Position #1 SEO Techniques - Google

Copy that is matching what folks are searching is a great way to get natural SEO.  In here, we intend to talk about how to write titles and descriptions, generally because these are important when it comes to on page SEO and how significant those titles are. This is how to learn SEO.

Titles must draw the reader in to be certain they read it.  Usually, it’s kind of like a teaser that gives missing information to coerce the reader to read the whole way thru.  This gives off a mystique and has a newsy quality to it.  In here, the passive voice is helpful.  I do not say ‘Michel Fortin’s Copywriting and marketing Tips’ I say ‘Copywriting and selling Tips By Copywriter Michel Fortin’.  So copywriting, marketing, tips or copywriter are front loaded.

I have the special luck of having been on the internet for some considerable time now and I’m known the way I’m known, so folk basically search for my name.  I look at my Google figures and my traffic figures and folks keep looking and they find my blog through my personal| name.

What I do is, I tend to put those keywords in the front.  I may not mechanically be number one when it comes to copywriting tips, but that isn’t my goal anyway.  My goal is that when it appears in the search website, those words hit them.  So when they scan the search results, particularly if you are at the top, that is great, but if you are not, when folk scan, that hits them.  That’s what I really want to do.

Have a look at some of the blog posts.  I’ll give you an example of what I’ve done with my past blog.  I say, ‘Headlines that Pull, persuade and Propel’ instead of saying ‘How to pen press releases that Pull and Persuade’ or ‘How to tug and Propel Readers with Headlines’ Instead, I put the word headlines because I know when folks look for title tips, they type in the word strap line.  So I front loaded that keyword.  That’s the type of thing I do.

Let me warn you folk now.  I’m not an SEO person in any way.  However , I do tend to think about the way the mind thinks.  I mostly try to concentrate on putting those few keywords.

There’s a truly cool and fascinating study done at a college, published by Jakob Neilsen in his magazine Use IT.  He talked about using the passive voice ; front loading keywords are important because eye tracking studies have proven that when people scan a page, or when they type in words in search engines, they’ll type in, or look for , or scan for, and stop at, those 2 first words.  The 1st 3 or four words maximum, but the first two words are vital.

If you have Copywriting Tips or if you have sleeplessness Cure or Energy Boost, those are significant because you are putting those keywords that folk are actually looking for.  But in my particular titles, in my particular blog posts, I have a tendency to do that, but I also tend to use it in such a manner that it drives folks into the blog post.

for example, if I write a post on 5 of my best SEO copywriting tips.  I can say Boost search website Traffic Using These five Tips…so the boost and the keywords are front loaded, but I didn’t mention what the tips are.  I said : These 5 Tips, as if you have got to go into the article to know what those 5 tips are.

So I use a bit of curiosity, intrigue, sometimes half-stated truths or half stated statements.  I start the idea and then I use.. , the elipse so that people are driven into the blog post to read.  My major goal is to get folk into my blog, into my site.  SEO is a type of a late addition. This is how to do SEO. But it is particularly important to get folks to have interaction with me and to purchase my stuff.

Need to Learn SEO Basics?

by admin on Mar.13, 2010, under Uncategorized

The SEO Method: Internet Marketing Affiliate Program

To learn the SEO basics can at first be a daunting task. You’d have to know the terms, how search engines work, how to optimize, then you’ll be faced by the bigger words like on page optimization or keyword research. I admit, facing those terms you’d be more than daunted by the seemingly complex art of SEO.

But before you close the book on your SEO journey because of your fear, let me tell you right now that it just sounds like it’s complicated, but it’s actually one of the easiest things to learn. But don’t let that factoid fool you, for though it is easy to learn, it sometimes takes a lifetime to master.

Many SEO experts continue researching and learning about it to keep up to date to all the changes in the field. Since search engine optimization is deeply rooted in technology, so too does the changes that go with it. We all know that technology changes at a fast pace. Computers grow smaller, search engines grow smarter and more complex, and what may work perfectly five years ago, may not work at all, or worse, may even cause more harm than good.

If you are familiar with the history of SEO, which you might learn once you get to research more about it, you will know how during the infancy of the Internet, some SEO techniques involve just typing the keyword over and over. Now, if you are old enough to remember it, these sites may seem strange to you, but as you grow more knowledgeable, you will understand what it all means. Now, if you used those techniques today, not only won’t it work, but it may even lessen your chances to be ranked since search engines may block it as spam.

So for those who want to learn SEO be sure to make your basic foundation solid, because once things get to be more complex, you will learn that the simplest way may turn out to be the best way.

What Is Longtail SEO?

by admin on Mar.13, 2010, under Uncategorized

Directory Submission - A Guarantee of Instant Link Popularity

A ‘How to SEO’ session must look at the longtail. To learn SEO, there is another thing to keep in mind when talking about keywords that people are searching for. Let’s say person 1 types in Sony camera into the search engine. Person 2 types in Sony camera handycam xpf250 hybrid. What do we know about the difference between these two people? Person 1 is getting a variety of Sony cameras because they’re probably doing research. Person 2 is a buyer.

Think of someone heading down a sales funnel, towards the sale. Each step they go down they are getting more qualified as they go through. When you go for longer tail keywords, you’re further down the funnel because you’re getting someone more qualified because they know what they are looking for now. I’m no longer a browser, I’m now a buyer.

It would be great to rank for Sony camera because you would get lots of traffic. Sony camera would get a lot more than some of these longer tail keywords. You need a balance. Going for the longer tail keywords can be more profitable on a per user basis. The benefit is for Sony camera we’re going to get a lot more traffic, and with the longer tail we are going to get less traffic but chances are they convert higher because they are buyers. For Sony camera we get 550,000, but for other ones like Sony Erikson k8001 camera, using free Google keyword tool, we get 590 searches. In this example we’ve got 590 versus 550,000. We’re talking a big difference in the number of searches. But the person searching the longer tail keyword is going to be a lot more qualified and it will be easier to rank for that. It’s going to be extremely competitive to rank for Sony camera especially when you think of some of the different websites you are going to try to rank against.

I think there is a good chance the Sony website will be ranking for Sony camera. Why? There are lots of people out there all over the internet linking to the Sony website with the word Sony.

This leads me to another point. When you are starting up a domain name, it’s a good idea to have your primary keyword in the domain name. For example, let’s take a soccer drill website. I probably went for soccer drill is because I think soccer drills, plural, is probably taken. The reason you have the keyword in there, is when people link to our soccer drill website, they link in a variety of different ways. People may link with just the keyword in the anchor text and they’ll link to other people who’ll link to our website with the URL.

When they’re linking to our website with the url. What are they doing? The keyword is there. It’s like they’re voting for our website and they’re also saying what our website is about by the keyword. There is speculation that, by having the keyword in the domain name, you will rank better than someone who doesn’t. It may or may not have a small increase but I think the reason the domain name with the keyword ranks better is not because the keyword is in there, but rather people are linking to the domain name and it has the keyword in it.

It is better to have the keyword in the domain name. Consider the Sony camera example. We can have many websites such as forums and camera forums, they might say I bought the Sony handycam and the Sony website is sony.com. They’re shooting a whole lot of links all over the internet and because that is a big brand name there are going to be hundreds of websites all linking back to the Sony website, all saying Sony. So there’s a pretty good chance it is going to rank for Sony camera. I’m sure people will be linking to Sony camera. So the Sony website is probably going to rank number one.

That’s why we&’re going to have a better chance if we go for the longer tail keywords. If you remember back to the way Google works, Google will rank your website based on a few things. First, what the web page says, so you want to do all the on page optimisation and second what other people say about your website. We might be able to rank for Sony camera handycam xpf250 hybrid because there may not be too many people linking to the Sony website with that keyword. But I think we could try and rank for that because we could build a page that optimized specifically for that keyword and then also via a link to that to say exactly what we want it to say. Keep a look out for more How To SEO articles or SEO guides in this series.

Get Better Search Engine Rankings

by admin on Feb.18, 2010, under Uncategorized

Search Engine Rankings.Everybody wants to be number one but there are billions of web pages out there. So, how can you get to the number one ranking and then stay there for the long term?Consistency is the key here.OK, you can use the latest, bestest tricks in the book right now but when somebody comes out with a better technique tomorrow you will be left struggling to get to the top once more.

I think one of the keys is to be well-rounded.Huge numbers of ebooks, books and courses about search engines rankings are available.  Some people say article marketing is the way to go, others link building, others say you have to maximize your web pages for the search engines. You must get your keywords right as well as the descriptions and titles.  But what happens when another web site does you one better in that area?  Now you drop in rank.

Therefore, I think it is more important that you do a good job in all the areas than to be the very best in one area.  And I think it is OK to be number 8 or number 3 in rank, also.  If you are in the very top spot and you are clicked simply because the top spot gets more clicks, are you really going to get more sales just because you are number one?Your pages and offerings need to be relevant to humans as well as Google.

Another key is to focus on very specific keywords. If you do not do well here then, no matter how well you do in every other area of SEO then you will be unlikley to hit the top spot for any of your keywords.Only focus on a couple of keywords, never any more.Construct your web pages around those key phrases.  Be everything you can be to someone who keys in those keywords.

Or better yet, one keyword.Would you prefer to have one keyword with a top ranking or 10 keywords, each with a 4th page placement? In my opinion, 40th could just as well be one million, there will never be enough clicks to make the page viable.  I would far rather have one keyword for which my site is on the first page of results than twenty that are all over the place.  Build yourself a web site that has a strong keyword density–for one or two keywords.  Put those keywords in your title and description and keyword lists.

You must have incoming links.Good quality backlinks are very important. You need to build inward links one at a time.  Links are very important, but you cannot cheat in this area. You must make them one by one.My two most favoured methods for link building are writing articles, just like this one and then submitting them to article directories and to be included in link directories.

Stay away from link farms, large link exchanges, or anything of the sort.  The major search engines want to see you build a steady supply of links over time. How are the search enignes going to react to an explosion in the number of backlinks in a very short period of time?  That won’t get you to number one, and certainly won’t keep you there, when you are put in the sandbox for six months.

These keys to search engine optimization are just a beginning.Good search engine rankings can lead directly to website traffic.  You need visitors to stay at your site for more than a few seconds when they click in.

How do you get that?  Build real content.  Build it for people, not machines—while following the first three keys.  Do that, and I believe that in three to six months you will have each web site you set up with this strategy, in the top ten for your keyword.

SEO For Complete Beginner’s

by admin on May.03, 2009, under Uncategorized

working online for quite a while and still feel unsure about Search Engine Optimization (there ya go, that’s what SEO is!) this is a must read for you.  This article will explore SEO,  how you can apply it effectively, and what you must do to ensure you don’t get penalized.

(Before I dive right in, Conquest Authority is a training program that will go over SEO in full detail, but for now, you can start off here.)

As I stated in the above paragraph, SEO stands for search engine optimization. The toughest question new internet marketers wonder is what is a search engine? I know this is extremely basic, but this is where you must start.  Once you learn the extreme basics, when you start to explore more on the topic of SEO, you will have a comprehensive understanding of exactly what SEO is.

Search engines are the websites you go to when you are trying to find something on the internet. In example, Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, etc. These are all search engines. When you are looking for an answer online, you visit a search engine, type in the information you are searching for, and presto! The search engine “searches” the internet for you and brings up pages of all the websites that pertain to your keywords.

Now you know what a search engine is, and you know what SEO is, let me get into the meat of things and explain how SEO works.

The most important thing you must do before any optimization, is you must determine your desired targeted keywords for your site. To be more specific, finding the terms you want your site to rank for with the search engines. An example of this would be:

Let’s say you have a website targeted around fixing computers. People who are searching for information about repairing their computers may search for these terms: how to fix my computer, my computer has a blue screen, or fix my computer. These phrases would all be considered long tail keywords, and these are what you would want to shoot for, because they are the terms that people search the search engines for.

Be aware when picking your keywords or key phrases, they are real phrases that get searched for, if not, you won’t get any traffic to your site. (Another tip is to make sure you pick keywords that don’t have a lot websites targeting them. You might not still get traffic if there is too much competition.) I highly recommend using a keyword research tool to really find some great ones. You can use Google’s free keyword tool, or Wordtracker’s free tool if money is short. They are fantastic starter tools, and they do the job just fine. after you start making some money, I really do recommend you get a paid tool because they are so much more effective, and you can really find some good goldmine keywords.

You can read more on keyword research and finding good keywords here.

Alright, so now that you have your keywords chosen, the next step is to be sure your site is optimized for those keywords. How can you do this? It’s really simple, actually.

The number one rule of thumb is always title your page or post with your keywords. This will be known as your title tag. Title tags have a large influence on the search engines when they crawl your site, so whatever you title your page, the search engines will consider it a keyword and you want to rank for it. This holds true for your domain name as well. Your page/post title and your website title (domain name) are extremely large factors in the SEO world.

aAfter you have purchased your domain (known as the URL), and you have chosen your targeted key phrases or words, the next step is to add content to your website or blog. Your article should be between 400-500 words at least, and don’t forget to include your targeted keywords or phrases at least 2-3 times in the content. Be careful not to go overboard with this, or you may get penalized. Be sure the keyword density is not over 7% (amount of keywords vs. actual words on page). Staying under 6-7% is much better. If you go over this recommended safety net, the search engines may see you as “keyword stuffing”. Keyword stuffing means using your keywords too many times in one page, and your website will pay for it if you do that, I promise.

The more content you have on your page, the better chance you have of being able to get all your keywords in and not make it look like you are keyword stuffing. In other words, keep your posts and pages long, and you can put all your keywords in. Search engines like long text articles and unique content.

Do not fret about getting every keyword phrase in your article multiple times, because the search engines are smart, and if you have a quality site, Google will rank you for keywords you never even tried to rank for. The biggest goal is sticking your main phrase in 2-3 times, and the others at least one time.

That’s SEO in a very brief overview. Learn as much as you can about the matter, because it truly will benefit you in the end.  Learning SEO takes some patience, but you will be a pro in no time.
